CAST provides all equipment and tuition as part of the MOD/Wigan Council therapy package for veterans and serving personnel who are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, combat fatigue, or any other emotional or psychological problem relating to them having been involved in active service.
Angling is now recognised as a very important form of therapy in the healing process for those who have suffered wound’s both physical and psychological.
Many who for a variety of reasons regrettably cannot participate in various sports are turning to angling to improve fitness and mental well being. CAST aims to provide fishing for those who have served in all forces but offer meaningful activities related to the charity through volunteer schemes.
ANGLING at CAST makes a distinctive contribution to health and well-being by incorporating physical activity to participate in low level fitness. These levels can be adjusted to suit the needs which encourage activity amongst the most inactive or those recovering from illness and older age groups who may not participate in other sports.
The therapeutic qualities of Angling are such that anyone can benefit from the rest and relaxation of the sport, even if they’ve never fished before.
We must never forget that those who serve and have served over many years to ensure our safety by helping them to reintegrate into society, we are trying to give a little back!
